Wake Up Cards.

Welcome! My name is Ron Elterman. I live in Willits, California. (The cat in the photo showed up at my back door. I let her in for a visit, and then she wanted to live with me, so she does.) I'm retired from working mostly in social services jobs. I created the Wake Up Cards because I believe that many people, while being aware of various social ills, don't know the depths of them. And I think there are a lot of people who would care about more issues if given more information about them. So I've dug up facts (mostly U.S. centric) about various social problems: factory farming, income and asset inequality, injustice in the criminal justice system, environmental issues, and more. My original plan was to print the cards, but it was too expensive. Fortunately, my roommate, Lucas, was able to create this website for me. It went live on April 17th, 2022. I started with sixty-four cards (because I was going to print eight pages with eight cards to a page). I may add cards; I already have a list of about twenty potential topics. Please share this site with others. Receiving donations will encourage me to add cards. If there is a card about an issue that particularly troubles you, consider sponsoring that card. Your sponsorship, a single donation, will last the life of the card. (I haven't decided when or if I will remove old, outdated cards.)
